'Tis the season for jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treating. While some may be focused on the impending festivities, many people want to land the right home before the holidays. Although the market does tend to slow near Thanksgiving, a slower market can provide many unique opportunities for buyers and sellers.

In this typical fall market, which is quite seasonal, there are three things for buyers and sellers to remember...

1. There's equivalent value for both buyers and sellers, right now
2. Prices are down approximately 10%, depending on product class
3. Don't let interest rates stop you from being a homebuyer. There are many strategies and options available. For instance, rates are available for A-rated borrowers in the 4% to 4.5% range. Plus, many lenders think rates will be lower by the end of next year. So you can save money by buying at a reduced cost and refinancing within a couple of years.
